Watch Adonis Stevenson vs Andrzej Fonfara Live Stream

Adonis Stevenson and Andrzej Fonfara meet in a rematch for the WBC light heavyweight title on Saturday night having first slugged it out just over three years ago.

The clash in May 2014 was a cracker which Stevenson (28-1) won via unanimous decision, but Fonfara (29-4) impressed as he ended ‘Superman’s’ 10-fight knockout streak.

Stevenson has been the WBC champ since knocking out Chad Dawson in June 2013 but has been accused of ducking challenges since then, most notably Sergey Kovalev.

Fonfara, resident of Chicago but born in Poland, has picked up impressive wins over Nathan Cleverly, Julio Cesar Chaz Jr and Dawson since he lost to Stevenson, but a knockout loss to Joe Smith Jr last year set him back a little.

Despite making seven consecutive defenses of his WBC light heavyweight title since his first-round knockout of lineal champion Chad Dawson in 2013, Adonis Stevenson hasn’t necessarily been the darling of his many critics.

Stevenson, 39, has made the most of his late career surge from a financial standpoint and has never been shy in flaunting his lifestyle on social media. But the native of Haiti who fights out of Montreal has also largely benefited from convenient matchmaking, facing a steady stream of opponents ranging between solid and unacceptable.

While his return on Saturday certainly won’t bring us any closer to finding out whether he’s truly the best 175-pound fighter on the planet, Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs), at the very least, will be running back his most difficult title defense to date.

Three years after Stevenson got up off the canvas to outpoint a determined Andrzej Fonfara (29-4, 17 KOs) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, the two fighters will return to the same site for Saturday’s rematch (Showtime, 9 p.m. ET).

If Stevenson is victorious, Saturday’s co-main event should produce his next opponent as WBC No. 1 contender Eleider Alvarez (22-0, 11 KOs) faces former champion Jean Pascal (31-4-1, 18 KOs).

“I’m ready because I know Fonfara is dangerous; we’re not underestimating him,” Stevenson said. “I’m training for the knockout.  Emanuel Steward always told me knockouts sell. When I get in the ring, I’m going for a knockout. It’s not an option for me to go 12 rounds.”

Fonfara, 29, a native of Poland who fights out of Chicago, overcame an early knockdown against Stevenson in their first fight and stayed consistent in his forward pursuit. In Round 9, he floored a fatigued Stevenson and bloodied his nose but was unable to complete the upset.

“I’m a much smarter fighter now. Mentally, I’m much strong and smarter,” Fonfara said. “I bettered myself.  [New trainer] Virgil [Hunter] has taught me a lot of new stuff.  Some things worked in my last fight with Chad Dawson [a 10th-round TKO in March], some things didn’t.  But that was our first fight together.  Now I’m ready to show everything in this fight.”

Despite the fact that his actions have yet to match his words, Stevenson maintains a showdown with the division’s best remains in his plans.

“My goal is to unify the titles with the winner of [Sergey] Kovalev and [Andre} Ward,” Stevenson said. “I want the unification, but if not I’ll make my mandatory. If Ward wins, I want to fight him; if Kovalev wins I want to fight him. I’m ready.”

The king of Europe will be crowned on Saturday in the Champions League, as Real Madrid battles Juventus in the final in Cardiff. It’s a chance for Real to win its 12th UCL crown, while Juventus aims to win the crown for the first time in 21 years.

Real Madrid and Juventus meet in Cardiff on Saturday evening in one of the most eagerly-anticipated Champions League finals in recent times.

The Spanish giants, fresh from winning the La Liga title, are hoping to make history by becoming the first team to retain their Champions League crown, lifting the trophy for the 12th time overall.

Juventus take on Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League in Cardiff on Saturday. It is — lest you need reminding — the most prestigious trophy in all of European club football, and will hopefully bring a spectacular climax to the long and arduous domestic season.

Real Madrid are looking to become the first team in history to win back-to-back Champions League titles, having beaten Atlético Madrid on penalties in last year’s final in Milan. Juve, meanwhile, haven’t lifted the cup since 1996, though their last final came only two years ago; alas, they were beaten 3-1 by Barcelona in Berlin.

Italian champions Juventus, meanwhile, are chasing an historic Treble having already secured the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles and are aiming to win Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since 1996.

We will bring you all of the build-up from the Welsh capital as we count down to the 7.45pm kick-off, as well as all the day’s transfer news and gossip.

Britain gets a taste of hosting a major event on Saturday evening with the Champions League 2017 final, between Juventus and Real Madrid, taking place in Cardiff.

It brings Real’s Gareth Bale back to Wales after he helped his country memorably reach the semi-finals of Euro 2016, while 39-year-old Gianluigi Buffon looks to become the oldest Champions League winner with victory tonight.

BT Sport, again, has exclusive rights to show the Champions League final. But as well as showing it on their dedicated channels, the broadcaster will be showing the final live on YouTube.

Where will the final be shown and how can I watch it live?

Like last year for Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final and May’s Europa League final, this clash will be made available to watch for free on YouTube.

The live stream video will be on the home page as you enter the site, alternatively you can search ‘Champions League final live’ in the search bar at the top of the page.

The game will also be available to BT customers and non-BT customers through the BT Sport website or BT Sport app. BT Showcase, which is available on freeview, will show the match.

Player to watch

How could it not be Cristiano Ronaldo? The striker is looking for his fourth Champions League title overall and third with Real Madrid, and he’ll want to make a big impact. He struggled in the final last year in Milan, failing to make an impact in regulation before bagging the winning penalty kick. He’ll be hungry here.

Odds

Real to win – 17/10
Draw – 21/10
Juventus to win 19/10

Prediction

Real enters as the favorite, but Juve’s unbelievable defense keeps it close, with the Italians winning in extra time thanks to a goal from Gonzalo Higuain.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Wonder Woman is how, well, unremarkable it is. After all the stops and starts and frustrations of trying to get a Wonder Woman movie made—a whole, vast system stymied by the idea of one measly female superhero starring in her own movie—Patty Jenkins‘s film is finally upon us. And, well, it turns out it’s just another superhero movie. A good superhero movie, sturdily built and solidly entertaining. But yeah, it’s yet another origin story for one of the comic-book world’s most iconic characters, a formula we’ve seen repeated many times over the past 10 years. Wonder Woman is nothing less and, for the most part, little more than that.

Well, Wonder Woman is “more” in that it’s easily the strongest film DC and Warner Bros. have made since they left Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight world behind and reimagined Batman and Superman’s exploits as turgid, fascistic operas of destruction. Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—both directed by Zack Snyder, who gets a story credit on Wonder Woman and whose visual stamp is all over the movie—are deeply imperfect films that nonetheless have moments of flickering inspiration. They’re big, overwrought duds, but they’re not outright catastrophes. The most recent DC movie, though, was Suicide Squad, a wretched, hideous, and curiously halfhearted act of aggression that leaves a really nasty stain on the whole series. So, compared to that, Wonder Woman feels like a revelation, a bright and engaging dream delivering us from a nightmare soup of toxic masculinity.

The new Wonder Woman film has most of what Wonder Woman fans would expect from a cinematic adaptation of her comics. There’s Paradise Island, the distant utopia where women warriors live and fight together, sans men. There’s the magic golden lasso which compels people to tell the truth. There are the magical bracelets that deflect bullets (and the occasional World War I shell, since the film is set in that era). Steve Trevor, brave airman in need of rescue? Yep. Etta Candy, jovial sidekick? She’s there. Improbable CGI superfeats? Of course.

Fans of the classic comics may miss a few iconic bits of the Wonder Woman mythos, though. Wonder Woman has some funny repartee, falling in line with other Marvel Cinematic Universe films: at one point, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman archly explains to Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) that men are necessary for biological reproduction, but not for pleasure. But while there are jokes, the comics’ more whimsical elements have been shelved. There’s no invisible plane. (At least not as far as audiences can tell.). And the Amazons in the film ride normal, everyday horses, rather than giant battle kangaroos.

Battle kangaroos haven’t been part of the Wonder Woman mythos for some 65 years. But in the original 1940s comics, written by William Marston and drawn with elegant stiffness by Harry G. Peter, kangas were one of the most visually distinctive — not to mention gloriously silly — aspects of life on Paradise Island. Amazons rode kangas in their Paradise Island military contests, and they even had special giant sky kangas that could take them to other planets.

Wonder Woman, 2017.

Directed by Patty Jenkins.
Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, David Thewlis, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Ewan Bremner, Lucy Davis, Eugene Brave Rock, Emily Carey, Lilly Aspell, and Saïd Taghmaoui.

SYNOPSIS:

Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny.

Gal Gadot impressed in her first, albeit brief, appearance as Diana of Themyscira in last year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Now armed with her whole solo film, Gadot turns up the ante, allowing herself and viewers to really dive deep into the character. She steals the show, conveying Diana’s young naivety and her journey to full-fledged superhero with ease. She really owns the role and delivers many of Diana’s core characteristics: her charisma, compassion, youth and strength. If it already wasn’t clear before, Wonder Woman is not to be trifled with and Gadot makes that abundantly clear.

Chris Pine makes for a compelling second lead as Steve Trevor, an American spy trying to prevent further deaths in war-torn Europe. He’s charismatic and plays the role with some of his usual swagger, yet downplays it to a degree. His chemistry with Gadot also propels the film. They play off each other naturally, making it easy to see how these two very different characters connect with each other. The banter between them is good as well, with most of it feeling organic, though some bits of humour with Diana and Steve, such as whether or not he represents “the average man”, feel a bit forced.

It looks like Team New Zealand are the team to beat when there is light wind in Bermuda.

Peter Burling’s crew have looked ‘exceptionally impressive’ in this morning’s win over Team BAR.

After a lack of wind yesterday the lay day is being used to catch up on the schedule.

The first race between Team Japan and Team France saw both boats struggle before Dean Barker earned a crucial win. But Team New Zealand had no such trouble in the light wind, cruising around the course and almost passing BAR a second time before crossing the finish line.

Dean Barker’s Team Japan gave Oracle Team USA are real scare, leading the race through the first three legs before giving up the lead.

Known as the Auld Mug – and similar to but larger than golf’s Claret Jug – the America’s Cup was originally awarded in 1851 by the Royal Yacht Squadron for a race around the Isle of Wight, won by the schooner America.

It is the world’s oldest international sporting trophy, and has never been won by Great Britain in 21 attempts.

The US has won it 28 times, New Zealand and Switzerland twice, and Australia once, in perhaps the second greatest comeback in sport when they wrenched the cup from America for the first time in its history with a controversial winged keel, all sorts of mind games, and the backing of the colourful businessman Alan Bond.

Ben Ainslie topped that last time out. Oracle were trailing 4-0 when he replaced John Kostecki as tactician on board Oracle.

Emirates Team New Zealand stretched their lead to 8-1, needing only one more win. But then Oracle managed to perfect the technique of keeping the boat up on its foils when sailing upwind.

THE BOATS

The 35th America’s Cup is being contested in 49ft 2ins, wing-sailed, foiling catamarans, crewed by six – a far cry from Reliance, the 1903 winner which was four times as long and had 64 on board.

The 77ft high wing sail acts more like an aircraft wing, hinging in the middle to propel the boat faster than the speed of the wind by pulling the sail forwards.

It has a top speed of around 60mph; Reliance was lucky to hit a quarter of that.

Each boat has two sets of foils – one for light winds, one for heavy, which they must choose before a race begins. L-shaped, they can be canted and the rake of the foil determines the lift of the hulls out of the water.

Each hull also has a winged rudder for steering and stability.

They are controlled by the skipper, from his steering wheel, which in Ainslie’s case has been custom-built by Jaguar Land Rover using Formula One ‘paddle’ technology.

He will make around 1,200 adjustments in each 20-minute race.

He is assisted by a wing trimmer who controls the sail, while four others – two of whom also act as tactician and headsail trimmer – are grinders, who lift the daggerboards and operate winches.

Teams can rotate up to two crewmen between races. Five of the boats employ arm power, but the Kiwis have opted for a revolutionary cycling system; the leg muscles are more powerful, but the position is less aerodynamic and grinders cannot move around the boat as quickly.

After a long regular season and three rounds of postseason action, we’ve finally reached the 2017 NBA Finals. Unsurprisingly, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are going to face off in the final series once again.

While there was only mild drama leading up to this point, there should be plenty of drama in this series. This is the third consecutive year these two teams are facing off for the title. The Warriors and Cavaliers have developed a rivalry because of their shared dominance.

Will LeBron James and the Cavaliers bring another title to Cleveland? Will the Warriors get revenge after blowing a 3-1 series lead in last year’s finals? We’ll have our answers after just seven games, if the series goes that long.

LeBron James surpassed Michael Jordan for the top spot on the NBA’s all-time playoff scoring list on Friday. The Cavaliers star hit a three-pointer in the third quarter against the Boston Celtics that gave him 29 points in the game and 5,989 points in his postseason career.

Jordan scored 5,987 in his postseason career in 179 games from 1985-2003.

James played in his 212th career postseason game on Friday, when the Cavaliers booked their third consecutive trip to the NBA Finals with a 135-102 win against the Celtics in Game Five of the Eastern Conference Finals.

“I wear the number because of Mike. I fell in love with the game because of Mike,” James said. “When you’re growing up and seeing Michael Jordan — it’s almost like a God. So I never thought I could be Mike … (but) the biggest thing for me sitting here today … is I did it just being me.”

How to watch on TV

ESPN have the exclusive rights to NBA in Australia and will be showing each of the seven finals games live, picking up the feed from the host broadcaster in the USA, ABC. You’ll need a Foxtel subscription with the sports package to watch their coverage.

They will generally begin their broadcast between 30 minutes and an hour before tip-off with their NBA Countdown programme.

All games in the series will then be followed by Sportscenter for a wrap-up.

There will also be plenty of replays available after each game, generally during the early evening.

Just as everyone expected, the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will meet for a third straight time in the NBA Finals.

The Warriors took care of business early, sweeping the San Antonio Spurs in four games, as they waltzed through the Western Conference finals unscathed, becoming the first team to start a postseason 12-0, and the first to enter the Finals undefeated since the 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers.

Cleveland nearly matched that feat, but their undefeated streak was ended in surprise fashion in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, as the Celticsstunned them with a last-second 3-pointer by Avery Bradley. It turned out to only be a minor hiccup, however, as the Cavs took care of business in the next two games to clinch their spot in the Finals.

Now, the two superteams will have their grudge match. The Warriors took the title in 2015, but LeBron and Co. came back in epic fashion to steal it last season. Hopefully this time around will be just as exciting as the previous meetings.

Never try to second-guess Andy Murray’s level of performance. That was the lesson of his first-round match here, in which he swept aside Andrey Kuznetsov in four quick sets.

OK, Murray was sketchy at times during his 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory. But it was still a damn sight better than his first two rounds in Paris last year, when he was extended to five sets by Radek Stepanek and Mathias Bourgue. Perhaps he should catch the ’flu more often.

After Angelique Kerber had suffered a first-round defeat on Sunday, the record books came out, revealing that the immediate loss of both top seeds had never happened at any grand slam since the start of the Open era in 1968.

Over on Court 1 Marin Cilic has stormed into a commanding 4-1 lead over Konstantin Kravchuk in the first set, while David Ferrer leads Feliciano Lopez 3-0.

Alize Cornet is a break down early on in her match with Barbora Strycova on Philippe Chatrier.

09:55: So first up on Philippe Chatrier is Barbora Strycova versus Alize Cornet – on for the partizan home crowd.

A number of French players have already crashed out of the tournament and Cornet, despite being unseeded against 20th-seed Strycova, will be expected to win by those in the stands.

Agnieszka Radwanska continues her title push against Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck on Suzanne Lenglen.

Marin Cilic is up against Russian Konstantin Kravchuk on Court 1, while it’s an all-Spanish affair on Court 3 as David Ferrer faces Feliciano Lopez.

The top remaining seeds for both singles brackets will be in action at the French Open on Thursday. Andy Murray, the No. 1 seed for the men, will take on Martin Klizan in a second-round matchup. Karolina Pliskova, the No. 2 seed for the women, will face Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Thursday’s action will begin at 5 a.m. ET in the United States and will be broadcast by the Tennis Channel. Play should continue into the afternoon with an expected end time of 3 p.m. Play will get underway at 11 a.m. local time in Paris.

A live stream of the day’s courts and matches will be available via NBC Sports.

Angelique Kerber, the women’s top seed, lost in the first round of the tournament. That loss, combined with the fact that Serena Williams isn’t participating in this year’s French Open, means the women’s bracket could go a number of different ways. Pliskova is an obvious favorite, but many believe in Simona Halep.

Halep, the third seed, will take on Tatjana Maria in her second-round match on Thursday. Halep has never won a Grand Slam, but many think she’s ready to take the next step.
Stan Wawrinka, the men’s third seed, will also be playing on Thursday. He has a tough second-round match against Alexandr Dolgopolov.

Today is scheduled to be the fifth day of racing in Bermuda with Ben Ainslie’s British Land Rover BAR team set for contests against New Zealand and France.

The teams are all vying for the right to take on Oracle Team USA in the America’s Cup at the end of the month and the Brits broke their losing streak with a victory over Sweden yesterday.

However, they could be made to wait until tomorrow for their next race due to winds in the Atlantic being too light for the £10million catamarans to compete in.

Ainslie’s side have only won two of their last six races but a two-point bonus for winning the World Series in the build-up to the month in Bermuda could still see them win the right to race for the America’s Cup.

Racing has been called off for the day at the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup qualifiers due to a lack of wind.

Team New Zealand were set to race against Team BAR but all of today’s racing has been moved to tomorrow which was a scheduled lay day.

The 2017 America’s Cup continues with the qualifying round on Wednesday. It’s the biggest race in sport of yachting and has been going on since all the way back in 1851. Qualifiers have been underway for a few days and will wrap up on June 3.

The action Wednesday will begin at 1 p.m. ET and will be broadcast by NBCSN in the United States at that time. There will also be a live stream online beginning at the same time via NBC Sports.

Oracle Team USA and Emirates Team New Zealand both have five wins and one loss in the qualifying round. No other team has more than two wins. Oracle Team USA, however, gets a bonus point for its finish in the 2015-16 America’s Cup World Series.

Great Britain gets two bonus points for its finish in the same series. Following three races on Tuesday, Land Rover BAR Great Britain has four total points in third, New Zealand has five total points in second, and the United States has six total points in first.

On Tuesday, New Zealand earned a win over Artemis Racing, which also lost to Great Britain on that day. Team USA took down Groupama Team France in the other race on Tuesday.
